Cheesesteak Egg Rolls: The Ultimate Recipe

Ingredients

• 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
• 1 onion, chopped
• 1 (12.5 ounce) package frozen sandwich steak meat
• 1 (14 ounce) package egg roll wrappers
• 4 slices American cheese, halved
• 2 cups oil for frying, or as needed
• 0.25 cup ketchup

Instructions

1. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté until translucent, approximately 5 minutes. Add the frozen steak, breaking it apart as it cooks. Stir continuously until the steak is fully cooked and no longer pink, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.
2. Lay out 8 egg roll wrappers on a clean, flat surface. Place half a slice of cheese on the center of each wrapper. Evenly distribute the steak and onion mixture on top of the cheese slices. Fold and roll the wrappers tightly, following the package instructions. Seal the edges with a dab of water.
3. Heat 1 inch of oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Fry the egg rolls in batches until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove the fried egg rolls and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
4. Serve the warm cheesesteak egg rolls immediately with ketchup, cheese sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce.
