Copycat T.G.I. Friday's Jack Daniel's Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

• 1 head garlic
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 1.33 cups dark brown sugar
• 1 cup pineapple juice
• 0.67 cup water
• 0.25 cup teriyaki sauce
• 1 tablespoon soy sauce
• 3 tablespoons lemon juice
• 3 tablespoons minced white onion
• 1 tablespoon bourbon whiskey
• 1 tablespoon crushed pineapple
• 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
2. Slice off about 1/2 inch from the top of the garlic head. Trim the root so the garlic sits flat. Remove the outermost layers of papery skin, being careful to leave enough so the cloves stay connected.
3. Place the garlic into a small baking dish, drizzle with olive oil, and cover with a lid or aluminum foil.
4. Roast the garlic in the preheated oven until the cloves become soft and fragrant, approximately 1 hour.
5. Combine brown sugar, pineapple juice, water, teriyaki sauce, and soy sauce in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Then, reduce heat to low and maintain a simmer.
6. Squeeze the sides of the garlic head until the soft, roasted garlic paste is released.
7. Measure 2 teaspoons of the roasted garlic into the saucepan and whisk to fully incorporate. Save the remaining roasted garlic for another recipe.
8. Add lemon juice, onion, bourbon whiskey, pineapple, and cayenne pepper to the sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook until the liquid reduces by half and thickens into a syrup-like consistency, about 40 to 50 minutes.
