Easy Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

• 1 cup white sugar
• 1 cup butter, softened
• 1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
• 1 large egg yolk
• 0.5 teaspoon salt
• 0.5 teaspoon almond extract
• 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 2.25 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

1. Get all your ingredients ready.
2. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat together the sugar, butter, cream cheese, egg yolk, salt, almond extract, and vanilla until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
3. Slowly add the flour, mixing until the dough forms.
4. Divide the dough into three equal portions and shape each into a disk. Wrap each disk tightly in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours, or preferably overnight.
5. When you're ready to bake, preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
6. Take one disk of dough out of the refrigerator at a time. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to a thickness of 1/8 inch. Keep the remaining disks chilled until you're ready to work with them.
7. Use lightly floured cookie cutters to cut the dough into your favorite shapes. Arrange the cookies on ungreased baking sheets, leaving about 1 inch of space between each cookie.
8. Bake in the preheated oven for 7 to 10 minutes, or until the cookies are a light golden brown. To ensure even baking, switch the racks halfway through the baking time. Remove the cookies from the oven and transfer them to wire racks to cool.
9. Allow the cookies to cool completely before frosting them.
