Easy Creamy Hamburger Potato Casserole Recipe

Ingredients

• 1 pound lean ground beef
• 2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup, divided
• 4 (4 ounce) cans sliced mushrooms, drained
• 1 cup milk, divided
• 0.5 teaspoon seasoned salt
• ground black pepper to taste
• 4 cups peeled and thinly sliced potatoes
• 0.5 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
• 0.75 cup French-fried onions

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 7x11-inch baking dish for easy cleanup.
2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, stirring until browned and crumbly, approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Drain off any excess grease.
3. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 can of mushroom soup, sliced mushrooms, ¾ cup of milk, seasoned salt, and a dash of black pepper. Gently fold in the potatoes until well coated.
4. Spread half of the potato mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish, then sprinkle generously with Cheddar cheese. Spoon half of the ground beef over the cheese layer, followed by the remaining potato mixture. Add the remaining ground beef on top.
5. Combine the remaining 1 can of mushroom soup with the remaining ¼ cup of milk. Pour this mixture evenly over the top of the ground beef layer.
6. Bake in the preheated oven until the casserole is bubbly and heated through, approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. Sprinkle French-fried onions evenly over the casserole and bake for an additional 5 minutes until golden brown.
