Easy Creamy Meatball Sub Casserole Recipe

Ingredients

• 1 pound ground beef
• 0.33 cup chopped green onion
• 0.25 cup seasoned bread crumbs
• 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
• 1 loaf Italian bread, cut into 1-inch slices
• 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
• 0.5 cup mayonnaise
• 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
• 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper
• 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
• 1 (28 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
• 1 cup water
• 2 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
2. In a bowl, combine ground beef, green onion, bread crumbs, and Parmesan cheese. Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet.
3. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the meatballs are fully cooked and no longer pink inside. Ensure an internal temperature of at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C) using an instant-read thermometer.
4. Line a 9x13-inch baking dish with bread slices in a single layer. In a separate bowl, mix cream cheese, mayonnaise, Italian seasoning, and pepper. Spread this mixture evenly over the bread slices. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese on top of the cream cheese mixture.
5. In another bowl, combine spaghetti sauce, water, and garlic, then add the cooked meatballs. Pour this spaghetti sauce mixture over the bread layer. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the entire casserole.
6. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes, or until the cheese is beautifully melted and bubbly.
