Easy Creamy Pumpkin Pasta Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

• 2 teaspoons oil
• 1 shallot, chopped
• 2 tablespoons butter
• 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
• 1 cup light cream
• 1 pinch salt
• 1 pinch ground cinnamon
• 1 cup pumpkin puree
• 1 cup chicken broth, or more as needed
• 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh sage
• 1.5 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme

Instructions

1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced shallot; cook and stir until softened, about 10 minutes. Add unsalted butter; stir until completely melted. Whisk in all-purpose flour until fully incorporated. Whisk in heavy cream, sea salt, and ground cinnamon until combined, about 2 minutes.
2. Whisk pumpkin puree and ½ cup chicken stock into cream mixture, adding more stock, ¼ cup at a time, until sauce reaches desired consistency. Simmer sauce until it thickens to the desired consistency, about 5 to 10 minutes.
3. Stir chopped fresh sage and fresh thyme into the pumpkin cream sauce. Serve immediately.
