Easy Salt Dough Ornament Recipe for Holiday Keepsakes

Ingredients

• 4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 cup salt
• 1.5 cups warm water

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) and gather all necessary ingredients.
2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt until thoroughly combined. Gradually add water, approximately 1/2 cup at a time, stirring until a dough begins to form. Once difficult to stir with a spoon, use your hands to finish mixing.
3. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead until it becomes soft and pliable.
4. Roll the dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch and cut out your desired shapes using cookie cutters.
5. Carefully transfer the dough shapes to ungreased cookie sheets. Use a toothpick to create a hole in each ornament for hanging later.
6. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 1 hour, or until the ornaments are hard. Switch racks halfway through for even baking.
7. Remove the baked ornaments from the oven and allow them to cool completely at room temperature. Once cooled, decorate them with acrylic paint and craft varnish to protect and preserve them. Thread a string or ribbon through each hole for hanging.
