Easy Snowflake Cookies Recipe for Christmas

Ingredients

• 1.5 cups white sugar
• 1 cup shortening
• 3 eggs eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 3.75 cups all-purpose flour
• 1.5 teaspoons salt

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and shortening using an electric mixer until smooth. Beat in one egg, then add the remaining eggs and vanilla extract. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to chill.
2. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) when you are ready to bake the cookies.
3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/8 inch. Use cookie cutters to cut out snowflake shapes and arrange them 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.
4. Bake in the preheated oven until the edges are lightly golden brown, approximately 6 to 8 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool briefly on the baking sheets before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely before decorating with icing.
