Easy Strawberry Pretzel Salad Recipe: A Classic Dessert

Ingredients

• 0.75 cup butter, softened
• 3 tablespoons brown sugar
• 2.5 cups crushed pretzels
• 1 (6 ounce) package strawberry flavored Jell-O®
• 2 cups boiling water
• 3 cups strawberries, chilled
• 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
• 1 cup white sugar
• 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. Cream together the butter or margarine and brown sugar. Then, mix in the crushed pretzels and press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 10 to 12 minutes, then set aside to cool completely.
3. In a medium-sized bowl, dissolve the strawberry gelatin in the boiling water. Stir in the sliced strawberries and chill the mixture until it is partially thickened.
4. In a separate, smaller bowl, beat the cream cheese and white sugar together until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Gently fold in the whipped cream. Spread this cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust, ensuring you seal the edges. Chill thoroughly before pouring the partially thickened gelatin mixture over the cream cheese layer. Chill again until the gelatin is firm and set.
