This treasured recipe has been a beloved part of our family for generations, dating back to at least the Depression Era when milk and eggs were scarce. It originated with my Grandma Pearl Nash, who always measured ingredients by memory and feel. Before she passed away from breast cancer in the early 60s, my Daddy asked her to meticulously measure out all the ingredients to preserve the recipe. He brought her into the kitchen, where she carefully portioned everything onto newsprint paper.
